From: The Rt. Rev. Purely Lyngdoh
Deputy Moderator, CNI
Bishop of North East India
Dear Friends,
We praise God for the Church of North India which came into being on the 29th November 1970. We declare that: “Great and wonderful are your deeds, Lord God the Almighty; just and true are your ways, O King of the nations.” (Rev. 15:3-4). Throughout these 35 years, we have grown, stumbled, slackened and failed in various ways. Yet in all these, our song and experience is:
“Thy hand, O God, hath guided
Thy flock, from age to age;
Thy faithfulness is written
On history’s open page.
Our fathers know thy goodness,
And we their deeds record;
And both to this bear witness;
One church, one faith, One Lord”.
Today, let us be proud that we the Church of North India have taken this bold and right step to introspect ourselves with reference to:
- the past 35 years; and
- what/ how we are today!
- in order to help us move on from here.
We thank God for the members of the Evaluation Commission who have accepted this difficult and demanding responsibility to facilitate this process for our Congregations, Pastorates, Dioceses and all our Synod-Programmes and Activities. It is our hope and appeal that all members of the Church of North India will take up this challenge in a good, positive and cooperative spirit for the Glory of God, and for the benefit of the Church.
May the Spirit of God guide, inspire and comfort us as we implement this historic decision of the Church.
Yours in Christ,
Rt. Rev. P. Lyngdoh
